Description
A classic wooden pergola for a patio, deck or garden corner. Every part is pre-cut and pre-drilled kiln-dried cedar, a softwood that is naturally resistant to rot and insects and weathers to a soft silver-grey if you leave it untreated. The roof is an open grid of rafters and top slats that throws a slatted shade pattern and gives climbing plants something to hold on to.
Highlights
- Kiln-dried cedar, left unstained so you can oil, stain or let it weather
- Thick 6 x 6 in posts and doubled 2 x 8 in beams with angled cut ends
- Rafters and top slats pre-cut and pre-drilled – no on-site cutting
- Galvanized carriage bolts, lag screws and post base brackets included
- Open roof grid is a ready frame for vines, string lights or a shade cloth

Assembly: two adults, a ladder, a drill and a socket set; plan on 6 – 8 hours. Post bases bolt to a concrete patio; on soil, set the posts on concrete footings. Natural knots, checking and colour variation are normal in solid cedar.
Care: to keep the honey colour, apply a penetrating exterior wood oil after assembly and once a year. Re-tighten the bolts after the first season as the wood settles.
